I originally started remixing by slicing the original files into different themes, but I was having trouble deciding which direction to take the remix. I tried a couple of different ideas, but nothing was really working. I asked Freebern for help, and he suggested trying to create something completely outside of the remix, then trying to work in parts of the original. This ended up working much better - I started with the thunder, rain, and wind sound with the "wind chimes" playing in the background, which echoed the original theme. I then created the string pizzicato section and led that into an almost unchanged original melody, then ended with the same idea as the beginning, with the wind chimes echoing the melodies from the original piece. I used some panning in the pizzicato strings, lots of automation to fade in and out of phrases, and some splodging throughout.
